  • 3/4 cup(s) nutella, chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/2 cup(s) warm water
  • 1 tablespoon(s) yeast
  • 3 1/2 cup(s) flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) warm milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoon(s) butter, softened

Chocolate, Filled Doughnuts Directions

  1. In a bowl whisk yeast, 1/2 cup water and 1 tbs of the sugar til combined and yeast is dissolved. Let stand for 10 minutes
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, milk, egg, egg yolk, salt, yeast mixture, and remaining 2 tbs sugar. Beat until combined. Add butter, beat til combined, dough will be sticky. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover and chill in refrigerator for 8-12 hours
  3. On a well floured surface, roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Using a 2 1/2 inch round cutter, cut dough. Arrange dough rounds on a tray dusted with flour. Cover and let rise about 30 minutes or until nearly double
  4. In deep fryer or heavy pan heat oil to 365. Place 1/3 cup sugar in bowl and set aside. Place nutella in pastry bag with a round tip, set aside
  5. Fry doughnuts, about 3 at a time, 2 minutes on each side or until golden. Remove doughnuts, drain on paper towels, roll warm doughnuts in sugar. using a dowel or chopstick poke a hole in one side of each doughnut. Pipe nutella through opening. Then repeat on opposite side.
  6. Serve warm
  7. Makes about 16 doughnuts
