| 3 tablespoon(s) butter |
| 3 carrots, chopped |
| 3 celery stalks, chopped |
| 2 onions, chopped |
| 2 cloves garlic, minced |
| 2 cup(s) cabbage, shredded |
| 10 cup(s) water |
| 2 cup(s) green split peas |
| 2 teaspoon(s) marjoram |
| 2 teaspoon(s) basil |
| 2 teaspoon(s) oregano |
| 2 teaspoon(s) thyme |
| 1 teaspoon(s) chervil |
| 1 teaspoon(s) sage |
| 1 teaspoon(s) coriander |
| 1 bayleaf |
| 1 ham bone |
Split Pea Soup Directions
- In a kettle, saute in butter, carrots, celery, onion, garlic and cabbage until limp. Add water, peas, seasonings and ham bone.
- Bring to a boil, cover and simmer over medium heat for 2 hours, stirring frequently.
- Remove bayleaf. Remove ham bone and separate the meat from the bone. Cut meat into samll pieces. Put soupl through the blender and return to kettle. return meat to soup and discard the bone. Heat another 15 monutes and its ready to serve.
