1 tablespoon(s) yeast
1 tablespoon(s) sugar
3 teaspoon(s) butter
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 1/4 cup(s) warm milk
1 egg
4 1/2 cup(s) flour
1 teaspoon(s) nutmeg

Doughnuts - Pearl Robison Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast and 1 tbl sugar in warm milk. Add a 1/2 cup flour and beat well. Cover and let rist about 1 hour or until bubbles burst on the top.
  2. Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Add egg and nutmeg. Add this mixture to yeast mixture. Add salt and remainder of flour to make a soft dough. Knead a few minutes then place in a well greased bowl. Cover and let rise another hour.
  3. When light and doubled, turn our on floured board and roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with small doughnut cutter. Place on floured
