Fabulous French Bread - Marys Grandmothers recipe Directions
- Dissolve yeast in water, add sugar, salt, oil and mix well
- Add flour, 1 cup at a time, mix well. Knead for 10 minutes
- Raise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Divide dough in half, roll out into 2 rectangles and roll up like a jelly roll from the long side. Seal edges and ends. Place seam side down on a large cookie sheet. Slash 3 times diagonally on top, let rise 30 minutes.
- Beat an egg with a teaspoon of water and brush the tops of each loaf
- Bake at 350 for about 25-35 minutes or until
