French Bread Directions
- In large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour and the yeast.
- Heat water, sugar, salt and shortening til shortening is melted, add to flour stirring well to combine. Mix in enough of the rest of the flour to make a soft dough, not too sticky.
- cover and let rise til doubled. Divide dough in half, Roll each half out into a rectangle, roll up jell roll style sealing ends and edges. Place on greased baking sheet, gash tops diagonally 3 or 4 times. cover and let rise til doubled, about 1 hour. Mix egg white
