Jalapeno Cheese Bread
A little spicy or a lot, it's up to you, but always full of flavor. A cheese bread sounds heavy but this is a very light and tender bread.

8 ounce(s) shredded cheddar cheese, mild or sharp |
2 cup(s) milk |
2 tablespoon(s) sugar |
2 tablespoon(s) shortening |
2 teaspoon(s) salt |
Jalapeno Cheese Bread Directions
- In large bowl combine, 2 cups flour and the yeast. In saucepan heat cheese, milk, sugar, shortening and salt to just warm, stirring constantly to melt shortening and cheese.
- Add to flour mixture, beat well. Stir in enough more of the flour to make a soft, not too sticky dough. Add chopped jalapenos. I usually use the canned pickled jalapenos in this recipe. They have great flavor and bake up really well in the bread.
- Knead until smooth, place in greased bowl and let rise til doubled.
