Jalapeno Cheese Bread
A little spicy or a lot, it's up to you, but always full of flavor. A cheese bread sounds heavy but this is a very light and tender bread.

5 3/4 cup(s) flour
2 tablespoon(s) yeast
8 ounce(s) shredded cheddar cheese, mild or sharp
2 cup(s) milk
2 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 tablespoon(s) shortening
2 teaspoon(s) salt

Jalapeno Cheese Bread Directions

  1. In large bowl combine, 2 cups flour and the yeast. In saucepan heat cheese, milk, sugar, shortening and salt to just warm, stirring constantly to melt shortening and cheese.
  2. Add to flour mixture, beat well. Stir in enough more of the flour to make a soft, not too sticky dough. Add chopped jalapenos. I usually use the canned pickled jalapenos in this recipe. They have great flavor and bake up really well in the bread.
  3. Knead until smooth, place in greased bowl and let rise til doubled.
