Everlasting yeast
This is a form of sourdough starter and it too can last for years if properly cared for. The difference is that this start can be used right away instead of fermenting for days

4 cup(s) warm potato water |
1/2 tablespoon(s) yeast |
1 teaspoon(s) salt |
2 tablespoon(s) sugar |
2 cup(s) white or whole wheat flour |
Everlasting yeast Directions
- boil 2 potatoes in 1 1/2 quarts water. Measure 1 quart water and cool to just warm. Mix all ingredients together. Place in a warm place to rise until ready to mix for baking.
- Leave a small amount of everlasting yeast for a start for next time. Between uses, keep covered jar in fridge until a few hours before ready to use again.
- Add the same ingredients, except the yeast, to the everlasting yest start fro the next baking. By keeping the everylasting yeast start and remaking some each time
