1 cup(s) water
2 cup(s) flour
2 cup(s) sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup(s) sour cream
1 teaspoon(s) almond extract
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 cup(s) butter
1/4 cup(s) milk
4 1/2 cup(s) powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon(s) almond extract
1 cup(s) walnuts or pecans

White Texas Sheet Cake - Grandma Hardy Directions

  1. Bring butter and water to a boil. Remove from the heat, stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, almond extract, salt and baking soda until smooth.
  2. Pour into a greased 15x10 pan. Bake at 375 for 20-22 minutes or until cake is golden brown and tests done.
  3. Cool for 20 minutes
  4. For frosting, combine butter and milk in pan. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat, add sugar and extract and mix well. Stir in nuts, spread over warm cake.
  5. Personally I hate almond extract! So I substitute vanilla instead
