1 pound(s) sausage, flavor of your choice |
1/2 cup(s) butter |
3/4 cup(s) flour |
6 cup(s) milk |
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg |
Sausage Gravy Directions
- Cook and crumble sauage until done, do not drain, add the butter and cook til melted. Add the flour and stir til when absorbed and slightly cooked.
- Add milk all at once and whisk completely. Using cold milk will help prevent lumps, but you really need a whisk for this dish.
- Cook over medium to medium low heat stirring often until the mixture thickens and will coat the back of a spoon, then add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
