1 pound(s) sausage, flavor of your choice
1/2 cup(s) butter
3/4 cup(s) flour
6 cup(s) milk
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg

Sausage Gravy Directions

  1. Cook and crumble sauage until done, do not drain, add the butter and cook til melted. Add the flour and stir til when absorbed and slightly cooked.
  2. Add milk all at once and whisk completely. Using cold milk will help prevent lumps, but you really need a whisk for this dish.
  3. Cook over medium to medium low heat stirring often until the mixture thickens and will coat the back of a spoon, then add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
