1 pound(s) sausage, flavor of your choice |
1/2 cup(s) butter |
3/4 cup(s) flour |
6 cup(s) milk |
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg |
Sausage Gravy Directions
- Brown sausage and crumble til done, add the butter and melt. Add the flour and cook a couple minutes then add the milk all at once whisking completely.
- Cook, stirring often till the mixture thickens and will coat the back of a spoon. Add salt and pepper to taste, keeping in mind that if you use a salty sausage you will need less salt. Add the nutmeg.
- Don't like sausage? Use bacon instead, or use no meat at all for a really yummy white sauce. A white sauce can be used for all sorts of things
