If this is the first article you’ve ever read of mine, you should know that I love pretty much anything home made. I think we often do home made because we think of the cost savings, but in reality home made takes so much time, effort and thought I believe it actually means love.
I have two daughters in law that are very creative and learning to do many things home made. Last Halloween Brookes very busy working mom made her a costume. Brooke is currently into anything Mickey or Minnie Mouse so that’s where it started. Christie, like me doesn’t believe you should spend a fortune on a costume that will probably only be worn once, so she started with Brookes closet. Brooke had a red dress with black polka dots, ta-da! She added some tights, shoes that Brooke already had, and spent a little time with Brooke making some mouse ears, one purchased Mickey Mouse pail and you’ve got a very sweet costume and a very reasonable budget.
Now is this an exact replica? No, but even Brooke knew exactly what she was supposed to be and she loved it! Everyone looking at her knew what she was supposed to be also. So when it comes to costumes, don’t freak out about it. Look in your closet, get out your scissors, use some imagination, save some money! Costumes should be fun and sweet and easy, and make a sweet memory!
